IT revolution will reach another level in a few years after the government connects all 2.5 lakh village panchayats with fibre optics. The fibre optic connectivity will allow the government to take internet to remote villages. The country’s imports in the hardware & electronic would increase from $50 billion to $400 billion. IT sector is contributing about eight percent of the GDP. IT exports have crossed $100 billion market & looking to cross $300 billion of IT & ITeS exports by 2020. IT sector would post anticipated growth in this financial year despite global headwinds. The IT sector would post the projected growth of 17 percent. The hardware sectors demand is likely to exceed 400 billion dollars in next eight years which is higher than the oil import. There is need for creation of content and software in local languages to open up opportunities for the companies. The Indian companies should diversify its portfolio in other locations like Africa & South East Asia besides catering to the huge demand on the domestic front rather than only concentrating on US & Europe.
